Sandy, UT Native Earns Honors for Her Performance on the Lacrosse Field

WHITTER, CA (06/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Dana Barraco, a native of Sandy, UT, earned 2nd Team Honors from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) for her outstanding performance this season with the Whittier College Women's Lacrosse Team.

Barraco who earns All-SCIAC honors for the first time was third on the team in goals with 40, while recording 10 assists. She grabbed 44 groundballs and was second on the team with 52 draw controls and had a 49% shot percentage. A very impressive start with the Whittier College Poets.

A consummate achiever, she was also named to the Spring 2012 Deans List. Undergraduate student are awarded Dean's List honors if he or she earns a 3.70 grade point average (GPA) while completing a full-time course load (12 units) in the fall and spring terms.

Barraco is in the Whittier Scholars Program--a self designed major--with an emphasis in journalism. An active students on campus, Barraco serves as the social media marketing coordinator for the Office of Student Life and received the 2012 "Student Life Emerging Leader" Award.
