CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Sara Holloway of Dexter, Mo., is among a select group of elite Southeast Missouri State University undergraduates chosen to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., during spring break March 11-16, learning about global issues in business, the environment and politics at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Students selected for the opportunity were required to demonstrate leadership involvement on and off campus, academic excellence or both.

Participants for the trip were nominated by faculty members and selected by University administrators, including Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins, Southeast Provost Ronald Rosati, deans and regional campus directors.

Holloway is studying for a major in secondary social studies education with a minor in history. She is a junior at Southeast and would like to become a high school social studies teacher and eventually a high school guidance counselor. She is a member of Phy Eta Sigma Honor Society, Social Studies Educators Association and Jane Stephens Honors Program. She is secretary for the Phy Alpha Theta HIstorical Honor Society and is a Governor's Scholar.

Holloway is the daughter of Jeffrey Holloway of Puxico, Mo., and Paula Cryts-Kelly of Dexter. She was a 2009 graduate of Puxico High School in Puxico.
