Sarah Tomich is named the CCIW Women's Soccer Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Thunder junior Sarah Tomich has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Tomich, a six-time recipient of the award, has won the award twice this season.

Tomich, the reigning CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, helped lead Wheaton to shutout victories against Carroll and Augustana last week. She scored Wheaton's second goal last Wednesday in a 2-0 victory at home against Carroll. The Thunder shut out Carroll last Tuesday, holding the Pioneers to six shots, with only three shots on goal. Wheaton's second shutout of the week was a 2-0 victory at Augustana as Tomich keyed a Thunder defense that held the Vikings to just five shots with only three shots on goal.
