Saratoga Springs Funeral Director Mark Phillips Appointed to New Volunteer Disaster Commission

BALLSTON SPA, NY (11/15/2007)(readMedia)-- Mark Phillips of Saratoga Springs has been appointed to serve on the Family Assistance Commission (FAC) organized by the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) to respond to disasters occurring in New York State. As a FAC member, Phillips will interview survivors and process paperwork to assist in identifying and facilitating the release of remains to the next of kin.

Phillips was chosen to serve on this commission due to his vast experience as a funeral director in New York State. Phillips of William J. Burke and Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes in Saratoga Springs, has been a licensed funeral director for 36 years. He served as transportation liaison for the Ethan Allen capsizing on Lake George. He is a member of NYSFDA’s Disaster Committee; a DMORT member since its inception; a member of the Saratoga Springs City Disaster Committee and a member of the Mortality Surge Capacity Committee of Saratoga Hospital. He also had experience working on the aftermath of 9/11.

FAC will operate under the auspices of the New York State Tribute Foundation, which is the charitable arm of NYSFDA.
