Scholarships Available for National Preservation Conference

ALBANY, NY (05/05/2011)(readMedia)-- The Preservation League of New York State and Preservation Buffalo Niagara announced today that applications are being accepted for scholarships for the National Preservation Conference, scheduled for Buffalo October 19 to 22.
This conference, organized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will bring preservationists from throughout the country to western New York for a wide variety of educational and field sessions using Buffalo as a dramatic location and laboratory. This conference, held every year in different regions of the country, was last held in New York State in 1980.
One hundred (100) scholarships are available, exclusively for New York State residents and students in relevant fields attending New York State colleges. Applications for this scholarship must be received by June 1st.
A scholarship will provide conference registration, all educational sessions, many other conference activities and one field session. Scholarship students will also have the opportunity to meet preservation leaders from throughout New York State. These scholarships are for persons becoming involved in historic preservation in their home communities and whose commitment to historic preservation will be strengthened by their participation. Scholarships for college students are for those seeking careers in historic preservation, architecture, city planning and other relevant programs.
National Preservation Conference scholarships are being administered by Preservation Buffalo Niagara with assistance from the Preservation League and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
