Trooper George Murphy Talks About Cyberbullying with Local School Administrators

ALBANY, NY (12/01/2010)(readMedia)-- The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) is proud to announce a series of workshops dealing with an issue on everyone's mind - the effects of bullying on our students and schools. This unique workshop series kicked off on December 1 at the SAANYS office in Latham.

Nearly 70 Capital Region school administrators heard from New York State Police Outreach Coordinator George Murphy about the laws surrounding bullying, cyberbullying, and sexting. The program also included time to learn about Olweus - the research-based and successful bullying prevention program being used worldwide.

This program will be repeated on the following dates around the state:

December 14 – Transit Middle School, Williamsville

December 15 – Rush-Henrietta Transportation Center

January 11 – Elmira (venue TBA)

January 12 – Jamesville-Dewitt Auditorium (Syracuse area)

February 8 – Nassau BOCES, Long Island

February 9 – Byram Hills Middle School, Westchester

March 3 – Plattsburgh High School
