School Administrators Association Supports Governor's Position on School Opening

ALBANY, NY (08/25/2021) (readMedia)-- The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) was pleased that Governor Hochul's priorities, as stated at today's press conference, include a focus on safely returning to in-person learning in New York State Schools.

Stated SAANYS Executive Director Kevin, "SAANYS fully supports the idea of a safe return to in-person learning for as many students as possible this school year. We concur with the anticipated state requirement as outlined by Governor Hochul for masking for all persons in our public-school buildings and that school personnel be vaccinated or take part in weekly testing. It is our responsibility as educators and New Yorker's to provide the safest learning environments possible and these measures will help us meet that objective."

We appreciate and look forward to the governor's assurance that schools will receive additional guidance for the opening of the 2021-22 school year by the end of this week.

SAANYS represents over 8,000 school administrators, supervisors, and coordinators. As a professional association, SAANYS is committed to providing direction, service, and support to the membership in their efforts to improve the quality of education and leadership in New York State schools. SAANYS is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
