School leaders discuss student mental health & cultural responsiveness

ALBANY, NY (08/01/2018) (readMedia)-- As school districts prepare for a new mandate to teach mental health in all grades, Western NY school administrators will take part in a multi-day workshop focusing on addressing student mental health needs and building culturally responsive classrooms and schools.

WHO:

School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) and Monroe 2 Orleans BOCES welcome featured speakers David Rossetti, chief officer of behavioral health services, Northern Rivers Family of Services; Rebecca Carman, director of policy and community development, Shenendehowa CSD; Kristen Campbell Wilcox of the University at Albany; Dr. Joseph Fantigrossi, Pre K-12 Intervention Coordinator for the Lyons CSD; and Jay Roscup, Grants Administrator for Wayne County Schools Consortium.

WHAT:

August 2: Professional learning for educators on student mental health needs and how schools can and must respond to those needs. Day two (August 3) focuses on culturally responsive school settings.
