Schwake selected to present research at Iowa Communication Association Conference

DECORAH, IA (09/26/2012)(readMedia)-- Jena Schwake, a Luther College senior from Sumner, Iowa was one of four Luther students selected to present their research at the 48th annual Iowa Communication Association Conference, a professional conference whose purpose is to connect all persons with an academic or professional interest in all disciplines of communication and the performing arts with all educational and professional level organizations in the state of Iowa.

Schwake is a 2009 graduate of Sumner-Fredericksburg High School in Sumner. She is the daughter of Dennis and Cheryl Schwake. Schwake is seeking a degree in communication studies.

The 2012 ICA conference was held Sept. 21 and 22 at Des Moines Area Community College Ankeny Campus in Ankeny, Iowa. The theme of the conference was "Digital Directions: Communicating and Learning in the 21st Century."

Schwake's presentation was titled "It is What It Is: College Females and One-Night Stands." Her supervising faculty was Kim Powell, Luther communication studies professor, who also accompanied the students to the conference.
