WILKES-BARRE, PA (06/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Sean LaFleur of Allenwood, Pa., was one of two students recognized by Wilkes University with the Teresa Jordan and Frank Mehm Prize, awarded annually to the undergraduate who most nearly represents the ideal Wilkes student respecting moral courage, unselfishness, and noteworthy extracurricular participation significantly advancing the University on and off campus. LaFleur was presented with the award at Wilkes University's 64th Annual Spring Commencement ceremony on May 21.

LaFleur graduated with a triple major in criminology, psychology and Spanish. He served as a writing mentor and was student coordinator for the Alternative Spring Break trip to Costa Rica. He volunteered more than 300 hours this academic year as a Scholar in Service to Pennsylvania and was the student leader planning the Victims Rights Rally. He is the winner of the Community Service Helping Hands Award and the Raymond R. Ritz Award from the department of behavioral and social sciences. The son of Mary and James LaFleur, he is a graduate of Montgomery Area High School. He will be attending graduate school at Marywood University in the fall.
