Senior Leslie Zemnick Receives the Dorothea E. Fenton '28 Memorial Medal from Chestnut Hill College

PHILADELPHIA, PA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Carol Jean Vale, SSJ, Ph.D., president of Chestnut Hill College, awarded senior Leslie Zemnick, a business administration major from Ivyland, Pa. with the Dorothea E. Fenton '28 Memorial Medal at Honors Convocation at the College in May.

The Dorothea E. Fenton '28 Memorial Medal was named in honor of Dorothea E. Fenton, a student from the first graduating class of the College who passed away one week before celebrating her commencement in 1928.

According to the 1931-1932 College catalogue, the medal is given "in recognition of the nearest attainment to the ideal symbolized by Miss Fenton's personal record in the College – eager pursuit of all that pertains to the higher life of the spirit and gracious courtesy in the contacts of life." The recipient of the award is a senior nominated by staff and faculty for possessing the qualities of cooperation and loyalty to the school.

Leslie has shown leadership qualities at Chestnut Hill College since her first year, and has been friendly, involved, and always available to help other students, staff and faculty. While at Chestnut Hill, Leslie was president of the student government association, a member of the business honor society, Phi Beta Lambda, an orientation leader, a member of the interdisciplinary honors program, a first year initiative peer leader, and editor-in-chief of The Luminous Review, an academic magazine at the College.
