Series of "knockout game" attacks prove citizens need firearms for personal protection
ALBANY, NY (12/03/2013)(readMedia)-- The disturbing series of "knockout game" attacks in New York City demonstrates the importance of average citizens having the option to carry a concealed firearm for personal protection.
"The fact remains that the New York City Police Department has no legal obligation to protect ordinary citizens from these attacks," said NYSRPA President Tom King. "The only person responsible for that is the individual themselves."
While approximately ¾ of the U.S. population live in the 43 states which currently have right-to-carry firearms laws, New York remains outside the mainstream with laws explicitly designed to hamper peoples ability to defend themselves from violent assault.
"Not a single elected official has put forth any plan as to how to address this issue. It is time for them to summon the political courage to admit that laws which deny citizens the right to carry the best and most effective means of self-defense are counterproductive and detrimental to society," King said.
