Seven Named to Thiel College Board of Trustees

GREENVILLE, PA (01/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Seven new members were appointed to Thiel College's Board of Trustees during the November board meeting. The new board members are:

  • Dr. Fred Luchette '69, of Chicago, Ill., surgeon at Loyola University.
  • Dr. Frank Maenpa '69, of Ashtabula, Ohio, retired vice president of operations at Affymetrix in Cleveland, Ohio. Maenpa was nominated to the board by the Northeast Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
  • Barry Oman '74, of Greenville, Pa., controller at Combined Systems Inc., Jamestown, Pa.
  • Dr. Barry Stamm '70, of Erie, Pa., entrepreneur and retired ophthalmologist.
  • Dr. Robert Holderer, of Edinboro, Pa., English professor at Edinboro University. Holderer was nominated to the board by the Northwest Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA.
  • Pastor Dan Smail '97, of Pittsburgh, pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Glenshaw, Pa. Smail was nominated to the board by the Southwest Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA.
  • Cheryl Burns, of Cortland, Ohio, president of Bail USA, Greenville, Pa.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the oversight of the college, adopting rules, regulations and policies governing Thiel and exercising authority over curricular development, use of property, development of facilities and fiscal and human resources management. The Thiel College Board of Trustees meets formally three times a year on campus.
