Shani Mink of Livingston Awarded Ike Weiner and Eleanor Weiner Perlman Scholarship
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (10/24/2013)(readMedia)-- Shani Mink, a Livingston, N.J. native and sophomore at St. Mary's College of Maryland, was recently awarded the Ike Weiner and Eleanor Weiner Perlman Scholarship. Established in 2012 by June Weiner Auerbach '49 in memory of her parents, the named scholarship benefits students who have financial need and who are not residents of the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia.
At St. Mary's College of Maryland, Mink is studying philosophy and environmental studies. She hopes to pursue a career in environmental education and is interested in sustainable agriculture, environmental ethics and social justice.
Mink is active on campus as the vice president of the Philosophy Club and the farm manager on the Campus Community Farm. Her hobbies include photography and music.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
