Shawnee's Christina Garber receives two scholarships at East Central University

Christina Garber, right of Shawnee, was the recipient of the Briles Undergraduate Scholarship and the James and Mildred Davis Murphy Dennis Education Scholarship during East Central University Department of Education's recent 2018 Spring Awards Luncheon. The Briles Scholarship is awarded bases on need and a minimum 2.5 grade-point average. Originally established as part of the Federal Student Loan Program, this scholarship was transferred to the ECU Foundation in 1995. The James and Mildred Davis Murphy Dennis Education Scholarship is awarded to a student in his/her semester of student teaching as selected by ECU's Department of Education. Mildred is a 1950 graduate of ECU as both she and her husband recognized the value of public school education that they can provide to future generations.
