Shayne Wierbowski of Owego Recognized for Academic Achievement

SCRANTON, PA (03/18/2014)(readMedia)-- Shayne D. Wierbowski of Owego, N.Y., was among the students at The University of Scranton recognized for outstanding academic achievement at an awards ceremony held on campus.
Frank O'Hara medals were given to the first-, second- and third-year students with the highest grade point averages in the Kania School of Management, the Panuska College of Graduate of Professional Studies, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Graduate and Continuing Education for the 2012-2013 academic year. The award is named in honor of the late Frank O'Hara who served the University for 53 years in various administrative positions.
Wierbowski received the Frank O'Hara medal from the College of Arts and Sciences for academic achievement for his sophomore year. A triple major in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology, computer science and philosophy, Wierbowski is involved in interdisciplinary research with the biology and chemistry departments. A Presidential Scholar at the University, Wierbowski is a member of the Honors Program, the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program, the Alpha Lambda Delta (the national honor society for freshman) and IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (the electrical and computer engineering honor society).
