Shimak selected to present research at Iowa Communication Association Conference

DECORAH, IA (09/26/2012)(readMedia)-- Samantha Shimak, a Luther College senior from Cresco, Iowa was one of four Luther students selected to present their research at the 48th annual Iowa Communication Association Conference, a professional conference whose purpose is to connect all persons with an academic or professional interest in all disciplines of communication and the performing arts with all educational and professional level organizations in the state of Iowa.
Shimak is a 2009 graduate of Turkey Valley Junior/High School in Jackson Junction. She is the daughter of Mike and Carolyn Shimak. Shimak is seeking a degree in communication studies.
The 2012 ICA conference was held Sept. 21 and 22 at Des Moines Area Community College Ankeny Campus in Ankeny, Iowa. The theme of the conference was "Digital Directions: Communicating and Learning in the 21st Century."
Shimak's presentation was titled "Operation Iraqi Freedom: How Serving in the War Affects Spousal Communication." Her supervising faculty was Kim Powell, Luther communication studies professor, who also accompanied the students to the conference.
