Sidney Wagner Named D3hoops.com Preseason All-American

Junior guard Sidney Wagner of the Trine University women's basketball team has been selected to the 2023-24 D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Preseason All-America team. Wagner was selected as a Second Team All-American heading into the season.

The Warsaw, Indiana native was a D3hoops.com Third Team All-American one season ago following a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) regular season championship and appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Wagner was also First Team All-Region in 2022-23 as well as the MIAA Most Valuable Player, the second in school history.

Wagner appeared in all 30 games and made 20 starts for the Thunder as a sophomore. She averaged 14.9 points per game to lead the team and was a stout 49.4% from the field and 37.4% from deep. Along with her scoring numbers, Wagner secured an average of 4.7 rebounds per game, distributed 2.7 assists per game and recorded 2.2 steals per game.

As a team, Trine went 23-7 overall with NCAA Tournament wins against Washington University out of Missouri and Loras College in Iowa. The Thunder were 14-2 in conference play last season and 10-2 inside the MTI Center.
