Sioux Center Youth Wins 4-H Market Swine Banner at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/26/2010)(readMedia)-- John Rietema of Sioux Center exhibited the Grand Champion Market Pig in the 4-H Market Swine Show August 19 at the 2010 Iowa State Fair. The barrow had previously been named Champion Heavy Weight and Champion Market Barrow.

McKenna Brinning of Keota exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Market Pig, which had earlier been named Champion Heavy Weight and Champion Market Gilt.

Rietema's and Brinning's title holders, as well as 12 other livestock champions, were auctioned in the prestigious Sale of Champions on Saturday, August 21. The event is sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, a non-profit organization established to encourage the pursuit of agriculture-related careers by Iowa's youth.
