ST. LOUIS, MO (05/16/2013)(readMedia)-- Last week, it was the announcement that the Missouri Baptist football program was accepted into one of the best NAIA football conferences in America, which made news. This week, it is the signing of a highly-touted Quarterback in Ryan McQuade.

Head Coach Jason Burianek was all smiles on the MBU campus today, because he had a major recruit who was potentially signing his scholarship offer. "This is just another major step in getting us prepared to play at a high level," said Burianek. "Ryan brings the leadership qualities that you want in a quarterback. Not only is he football smart, but he will succeed in the classroom."

The Spartans will begin competition in the fall of 2014 and begin Mid-States Football Association conference play in the fall of 2015. "Practicing this fall will not only help us get prepared to begin competing in 2014, but it will help us grow as a team," said Ryan McQuade.

McQuade looks the part, standing 6-4 and weighing in at 200 lbs. He has the statistics to back things up, throwing for 3008 yards and 43 touchdowns. McQuade finished the 2012 season completing 60 percent of his passes, 161-for-266. He has the leadership quality, as he guided Aurora Christian High School to a Class 3A Illinois State Championship. The Eagles finished the season with an 11-1 record, losing one game by just four points.

McQuade opened his senior season with a perfect performance, completing all 15 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown in a 48-0 shellacking over DuSable.

Four of his seven pass completions went for touchdowns in the first round of the state playoffs. He threw four more touchdown passes in the state semifinals en route to a 41-7 victory of Newman Central Catholic. He also threw for one touchdown in the state title game, in which the Eagles won 44-12.

He earned First-Team All-Area on the gridiron and also was named All-Area on the hardwood as a basketball player. Check out his highlights from the 2012 season.

McQuade also has the football bloodlines, as his uncle and high school coach is former NFL speedster Don Beebe. Beebe still holds the NFL record for most Super Bowl appearances with six.
