Special Olympics Held Saturday at SUNY Canton

Athletes will compete in the College's Convocation Athletic and Recreation Center and in Alumni Auditorium of Dana Hall.

CANTON, NY (04/29/2013)(readMedia)-- SUNY Canton will be hosting the Special Olympics New York – North Country Region spring games. The opening ceremonies begin at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Convocation Athletic and Recreation Center, nicknamed Roos House.

Approximately 175 athletes are expected to participate in track and field races and basketball games. Event organizers estimate more than 150 volunteers will be assisting with the competitions.

Special Olympics New York – North Country Region serves about 300 athletes from both St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties through more than 20 training programs.
