Spencerport Student Receives Administrator Scholarship Award

ALBANY, NY (04/30/2009)(readMedia)-- The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS), Region 11 was pleased to award Alexandra Nenni of Spencerport High School as the Region's annual student scholarship award winner. The award was presented during the region's annual Awards Ceremony and Reception on April 28 at the Doubletree Hotel in Rochester.

Nenni plans on attending college to become a physician's assistant and thanked her principal, Ty Zienkiewich for his encouragement and support.The event also acknowledged the following local region 11 award winners:

Elementary Level: Edward A. Bronson, Penn Yan Central School District

Middle Level: Ronald Marro, Penfield Central Schools

High School Level: Anthony Ferrara, Seneca Falls Central School

Director: Carol Robinson, Spencerport Central School District

Friend of Education: Judy Wadsworth, Monroe County School Boards Association

Friend of Education: Kenneth F. Harris, Fairport Central School District

SAANYS will hold its 2009 statewide awards ceremony on May 1 at the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs to acknowledge the New York State Principals of the Year as well as other statewide awards. Those winners are:

SAANYS/NAESP Elementary Principal of the Year: Donald Sternberg - Wantagh UFSD

SAANYS/NASSP Middle School Principal of the Year: James P. Newton – Tonawanda City School District

SAANYS/NASSP High School Principal of the Year: Thomas O'Brien –Brentwood UFSD

SAANYS Irving Schwartz Retiree Award: James Cannon -Retired from Syracuse City School District

SAANYS Outstanding Educator Award: Nadine Jackson-Ivey- Poughkeepsie City School District

SAANYS James E. Allen Award: Laurie Levy – Rockville Centre UFSD

SAANYS Leadership and Support Award: Michele Shirkey – Bainbridge-Guilford CSD
