Spitzer’s Evasion Continues

ALBANY, NY (09/04/2007)(readMedia)-- According to sources inside the Governor’s office cited in published reports today, Governor Spitzer and his aides are continuing to block investigators from gaining access to critical "Troopergate" emails.

After claiming that his office cooperated with Attorney General Cuomo’s investigation earlier this year, Governor Spitzer and his staff are telling the public that they are cooperating with the current investigations. In reality, it appears that Governor Spitzer is actually resisting every effort to explore what really happened.

Meanwhile, Governor Spitzer has completely avoided the Capital Press Corps since the "Troopergate" scandal came to light.

His pattern of evasion has brought government to a grinding halt and eliminated any opportunity for constructive accomplishments on the critical issues important to the people of New York: tax relief, job creation, commonsense criminal justice measures and homeland security.

The people of New York State overwhelmingly demand that Governor Spitzer and his administration disclose all the facts about their use of the state police to advance their personal political agenda. It is disturbing that the Governor’s administration would reject the will of the people, continue to hide their private emails and prevent a full and unfettered investigation.

This continuing evasion raises an obvious question is: what is the Governor trying to cover up?
