St. Louis native Becky Esrock Named Third Team All-American
She is the second Lake Forest College women's soccer player to earn the honor.
LAKE FOREST, IL (12/05/2012)(readMedia)-- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released it 2012 All-America Teams on Tuesday and Lake Forest College's Becky Esrock (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) was a Third Team selection on defense.
Esrock, a junior, moved from forward to sweeper after six games and the Foresters went 12-2-1 with nine shutouts in their final 15 contests. She finished the season with 14 points on six goals and a pair of assists.
Lake Forest was 14-6-1 overall and captured the 2012 Midwest Conference with an 8-1-1 league record. The Foresters hosted and won the MWC Tournament to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Esrock scored a goal in the team's 2-0 triumph over St. Norbert College in the MWC Tourney final and netted another score in a 2-1 loss to Concordia College-Moorhead in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Esrock ranks third in program history with 39 career goals and 93 points.
She was also named MWC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-MWC on November 15 and to the Capitol One Academic All-America® second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America on November 27.
Esrock joins 2005 graduate Mei-Yun Gibson, who was also a sweeper, as the only All-Americans in program history. She is also just the fourth Midwest Conference player to earn the award from the NSCAA.
