St. Louis native Becky Esrock named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week
The junior sweeper at Lake Forest College anchors the defense for the Foresters
LAKE FOREST, IL (10/24/2012)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College women's soccer player Becky Esrock (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week recently after helping lead the Foresters to a pair of shutouts two weeks ago. The Foresters claimed a share of the Midwest Conference title with a 3-0 win over Illinois College on Sunday.
Esrock, a junior sweeper, scored a pair of goals during the team's 5-0 victory over visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering. She also anchored a Forester defense that allowed just eight shots in the contest.
Lake Forest resumed conference play with a 4-0 blanking of Knox College. Esrock and the rest of the Forester defense surrendered just one shot in the contest.
The Foresters are 10-1-1 since Esrock moved to sweeper.
She moved into fifth place in program history with 89 career points and she is now tied for third in team annals with 37 career goals.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Esrock earned the award on offense twice as a freshman.
