St. Louis native Becky Esrock named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
The junior sweeper on the Lake Forest College women's soccer team is an economics and international relations major
LAKE FOREST, IL (11/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College women's soccer player Becky Esrock (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District® Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. She will now appear on the Capitol One Academic All-America® ballot.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve player on a university or college team and have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. CoSIDA members nominate student-athletes from their schools and vote for the winners at the district level.
Esrock, a junior economics and international relations major, is one of four defensive players to earn the Division III award in District 7 (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio). She moved from forward to sweeper early in the season and helped lead the Midwest Conference champion Foresters to an overall record of 12-5-1 and league mark of 8-1-1 during the regular season. She has four goals and two assists on the season and she has 89 points on 37 goals and 15 assists in her career.
Esrock will now appear on the national ballot. The Capitol One Academic All-America® Team will be announced on Tuesday, November 27.
