State Bar President Urges Legislators To Approve New Family Court Judgeships
ALBANY, NY (06/12/2014)(readMedia)-- New York State Bar Association President Glenn Lau-Kee today issued the following statement after the Legislature left Albany until Monday without having passed legislation to authorize new Family Court judges.
"We are pleased that the Assembly has passed a bill to authorize 20 new Family Court judges. We are likewise pleased that the Senate has recognized the importance of adding judges by introducing a similar, but not identical, bill. We urge lawmakers to agree on a single bill and pass it next week.
"With only four days remaining in the 2014 regular legislative session, it is critical that an agreement be quickly reached on legislation authorizing judges and ensuring that the widely recognized need for additional Family Court judges is met."
