State Fair Key Lime Dessert Honors Won by Des Moines Baker

DES MOINES, IA (08/16/2022) (readMedia)-- Natalie Larson of Des Moines won first place and a $25 cash award in the Key Lime Dessert Creations competition, judged Saturday, August 13, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Jodi Brady of Runnells claimed second place and Brooke Mickelson of West Des Moines earned third place.

Entries were judges on taste, appearance and creativity.

A Key Lime is usually smaller in size, has a thinner rind and is higher in acidity than the more common Persian Lime.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.
