State Fair Tall Corn Title Claimed by Kansas Farmer

DES MOINES, IA (08/10/2018) (readMedia)-- Casey Perkins of Silver Lake, Kan won first place in the Tallest Corn Stalk Contest judged Thursday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

The winning stalk measured an impressive 24 feet, 9 inches in height.

Donna Blair of Griswold claimed second place with an entry measuring in at 16 feet 4 inches. John Cassens of Schleswig earned third place with a 16 foot and ¼ inch stalk.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
