LEWISBURG, WV (06/26/2013)(readMedia)-- The eighth annual Farming Heritage Award will be presented to Dr. Joseph Cain from Big Bend, WV. Since 1878, four generations have continued the operation of this 500-plus acre farm, on which Dr. Cain still takes his cattle on a 3-mile drive each year.
The award is sponsored by the State Fair of West Virginia and the West Virginia Farm Bureau and presented to a worthy family who has demonstrated a commitment to a rural lifestyle, been involved in their community, and served as role models to others in the state of West Virginia.
A ceremony will be held honoring Dr. Cain on Thursday, August 15, "Governor's Day" at the 2013 State Fair. He will also be treated to a day at the Fair, including overnight accommodations, free admission, and preferred parking, as well as a Natural Stone Sign award for indoor or outdoor display.
The Farming Heritage Award is cosponsored by the State Fair of West Virginia and the West Virginia Farm Bureau.
