New Yorkers Deserve Results, Not Just Politics from Clinton and Spitzer

ALBANY, NY (05/14/2007)(readMedia)-- Senator Hillary Clinton, during a rare visit to New York's Capitol city, joined today with Governor Eliot Spitzer on the steps of the state Capitol, not to address the needs of our state but to make a partisan political announcement.

Disregarding the real needs of New York's families on a busy a session day, the two public servants wasted the people's time promoting their personal political ambitions.

Instead of focusing on politics, they should have been addressing the issues that make a real difference in the lives of everyday New Yorkers. They ignored pressing issues like the need for the death penalty for cop killers and the decisive steps that need to be taken to improve New York's economy -- particularly Upstate.

Senator Clinton should have used the opportunity to explain to New Yorkers where the 200,000 new jobs are that she promised during her campaign, but never delivered.

And, Governor Spitzer should have pushed for the death penalty for cop killers -- an issue he campaigned on, but has since disregarded.

Senator Clinton and Governor Spitzer have made a lot of promises to New Yorkers, but where are the results?

It's time for Senator Clinton and Governor Spitzer to spend less time advancing their personal political ambitions, and get to work tackling the tough issues that will improve the quality of life for average New Yorkers.
