Statement by William E. Scheuerman, President of United University Professions
Regarding his Appointment to the Governor's Commission on Higher Education
ALBANY, NY (05/29/2007)(readMedia)-- "I'm delighted to be appointed by the governor to serve as a member of his Commission on Higher Education.
"Among the most critical concerns is the need to formulate a predictable, reliable funding stream for public higher education. Addressing that issue will preserve the quality of our public colleges and universities as they struggle to cope with growing enrollment and the need to hire more full-time faculty, and the key to quality higher education is lower student/faculty ratios on all our campuses.
"I'm confident this commission will help achieve the governor's goal of making New York's public higher education system the best in America."
