Regarding Governor Spitzer's Nominations of H. Carl McCall and Carl Hayden to the SUNY Board of Trustees

LATHAM, NY (06/05/2007)(readMedia)-- "Carl McCall is an excellent nominee for SUNY trustee. Having worked with Carl in his role as co-chairman of the New York State Public Higher Education Conference Board for four years, I know that he will spare no energy to help make SUNY a great university. His forceful advocacy on behalf of public higher education plus his extensive experience in state government make him an ideal candidate to serve on the SUNY board.

"Like McCall, Carl Hayden brings a wealth of talent to the SUNY board. His record of achievement as chancellor of the Board of Regents bodes well for what he can accomplish as the SUNY board's next chairman.

"I hope the Senate moves swiftly to confirm both nominations so they can get to work on making New York's public higher education system the best in America."
