Statement from Governor David A. Paterson on the Retirement of Senator Dale Volker
ALBANY, NY (04/30/2010)(readMedia)-- "I am privileged to have had the opportunity to work with Senator Dale Volker, whose 38 years of representing Western New York has been both admirable and distinguished. Over our years of working together first in the State Senate and now as Governor, I have grown great respect for his work and tireless efforts on behalf of his constituents.
"During his time as Chair of the Codes Committee, Senator Volker worked on a variety of issues he felt would make New York a safer State, including ensuring the protection of women and children from domestic violence, combating drug use and trafficking and strengthening the rights of crime victims.
"Senator Volker is first and foremost a statesman, and even though we stood on opposite sides of the aisle, I will personally miss the many contributions he made to the discussion on how to make our State a better place. I wish Dale all the best in a well-earned and much deserved retirement."
