Statement from Governor Paterson on the New York Based Arpa-E Awards
ALBANY, NY (07/13/2010)(readMedia)-- "I offer my congratulations to the City University of New York Energy Institute and General Electric Global Research Center on their success in securing three awards totaling $5.5 million from the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). These research projects will help advance state-of-the-art technologies in utility-scale energy storage and power electronics for clean energy applications.
"It is great to see New York's commitment to development of clean energy technologies and its clean energy economy recognized at the Federal level through awards such as these. New York is rich with technological and innovative assets in our research universities and institutions across the State. Furthermore, these projects complement NY-BEST – the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium – which I announced early last year. As important as investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy are to develop our clean energy economy, so too are the investments in supporting technologies such as energy storage."
