NEW YORK, NY (11/26/2007)(readMedia)-- While the weather is growing colder, young volunteers of all ages will bring some warmth to those in need with hand-made fleece scarves for local elderly and homeless. Children for Children (CFC) will host a hands-on service project on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Staten Island Museum of Arts & Sciences located at 75 Stuyvesant Place. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.

Volunteers will make fleece scarves and holiday cards that will be donated to homeless shelters and senior centers around New York City, including to organizations on Staten Island.

“I volunteer so the world can be a better place,” said Jessica, 9, a volunteer at a recent CFC Service Project of the Month.

CFC’s service events provide youth like Jessica the opportunity to make connections to one’s community through service, action, and giving.

CFC’s Dec. first event is open to the public and will provide youth of all ages the opportunity to participate in hands-on volunteering and giving.
