Staunton Athletic Leagues Opening Doors to Healthy Active Living

STAUNTON, VA (03/24/2011)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department is Accepting League Rosters and Fees for upcoming Spring leagues. Our athletic leagues are open with no restrictions on residency. The soccer and flag football leagues are fairly new and are being offered based on popularity and demand. Softball leagues have been a staple of the Staunton Parks and Recreation Department. Our league participation has doubled in 10 years thanks to new fields, introduction of new leagues and major effort put forth by the one man show - James Corbett, Athletics Specialist. Athletic league participation is a great way to get or stay active. The league offerings are in direct line with our department efforts to reduce obesity in our community by encouraging and offering physical activities.

Spring Flag Football

7 on 7 screen flag football with games on Sunday and Monday. $300 per team with a roster of 15 players max. Must sign up as a team and league play will begin first week of April.

Spring Co-ed 11 on 11 Soccer

Co-ed adult soccer with games played on Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings. 11 on 11 will be played at the Montgomery Hall Complex. Cost is $35 per player with a max. of 20 people per team. Please enter as a team.

Men's Softball & Co-ed Softball

There will be an organizational meeting on April 6th @ 7PM at the Montgomery Hall Park Activities Room for anyone interested in entering a team in either league. League fees are $350 for the men's league and $250 for the co-ed league.
