STAUNTON, VA (09/13/2011)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department kicks off it's Awakening Consciousness Musical Enlightenment Series on Wednesday, September 21st at the Bandstand in Gypsy Hill Park. The first of the four scheduled entertainers through the Fall series will be Lou Boden and Three Guys with Notes. Three Guys with Notes will share the Gypsy Hill Bandstand stage this particular evening with the Staunton area's International Day of Prayer for Peace.

Three Guys with Notes is an outgrowth of The Spiritheart Flute and Drum Circle. They are a trio who play a mixture of "all the music and rhythms of life as they feel them". Sounds that the Native Americans created and shared are the message of Three Guys w/ Notes. Lou Boden has come to believe that the Native American Flute is an instrument of connection and co-creation. Lou pipes these sounds of the Native American Flute connecting and grounding with the Earth, while Mike Deaton drums the resonant heart beat. These inspired sounds are woven together with the balanced strings of Chris Wray. Three Guys w/ Notes will perform from 6pm until 7:20pm and will open for the IDPP event.

The Internation Day of Prayer for Peace, sponsored by the Staunton Church of the Brethren will feature David Tate and his talented Mary Baldwin College Ensemble. This will be followed by a short talk from student-scholar Josh Roach from the Mahatma Ghandi Center for Global Nonviolence at James Madison University. Eight people representing eight spiritual traditions, will each lead a two minute prayer-mediatation for peace and healing. The evening will end with peace songs from the talented Scott Duffey and Kevin Walsh.

The event is FREE.
