Staunton Parks and Recreation Unveils New Flag Football Field in Montgomery Hall Park
Only the First 8 teams to Submit Roster Information can be Accommodated
STAUNTON, VA (03/19/2010)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department will unveil it's newly dedicated flag football field in Montgomery Hall Park for the Spring 2010 athletic season. With significant increases in participants and teams playing flag football, the current recreation league outgrew it's available field space. Expanding play in both adult flag football and adult soccer forced the City to either limit teams and leagues or build a new field dedicated to flag football. The City decided the latter, and so for the first time, the Recreation Division will offer flag football this Spring at the newly built field. The new field is located between Lancaster Girls Softball Field, Springel Field and the 17th hole of the Disc Golf Course.
Only the first 8 teams to submit a team roster can be accommodated. Teams will play seven on seven "screen only" style on Sunday afternoons in Montgomery Hall Park. The league's "non-contact" rule as well as excellent field conditions are the catalyst for the growing popularity of flag football offered by Staunton Parks and Recreation. The team fee for the new Spring league is $300. The deadline has been extended to Friday, March 26, 2010. The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department continues to offer leagues based on customer feedback and available resources. This athletic league is one of 23 leagues operated by the Staunton Parks and Recreation Department in their effort to bring the best recreation places and programs to the citizens of Staunton.
