POTSDAM, NY (11/07/2014)(readMedia)-- Community Performance Series is proud to host the renowned a cappella group, Anonymous 4, as part of the vocal quartet's farewell tour. The concert will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music.

Singing medieval chant and polyphony, Anonymous 4 has been performing for sold-out audiences on major concert stages across the world since 1986. The group's programs have included a wide variety of music, dating from the year 1000 to the present. This includes the music and poetry of Hildegard of Bingen, as well as American folk songs and shape note music.

Anonymous 4's current members include singers Ruth Cunningham, Marsha Genensky, Susan Hellauer and Jacqueline Horner-Kwiatek.

"Anonymous 4 has announced that the 2015-16 season will be their last. We are very pleased to be able to present this impassioned and captivating group to the North Country one last time," said CPS Executive Director Amy Flack.

In 2011, Anonymous 4 released their newest album, "Secret Voices," and created a truly unique concert program to celebrate their 25th year together.

For the Potsdam performance, they will present this very special concert, titled "Anthology: 25 Years with Anonymous 4." It features ancient, traditional and modern works, from each of their 19 prize-winning, chart-topping albums.

"Their impressive vocal blend, purity of tone and distinctive individual voices, which have helped them sell almost 2 million copies of their albums on the Harmonia Mundi label, were beautifully highlighted here," said Vivien Schweitzer in a New York Times review of "Secret Voices."

Single tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased in person at the CPS Box Office, now located in SUNY Potsdam's new Performing Arts Center, or by calling (315) 267-2277. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.cpspotsdam.org, or by visiting Northern Music & Video in downtown Potsdam.
