BATAVIA, NY (11/11/2015)(readMedia)-- Genesee Community College freshman forward William Stone (Little Hampton, UK) has been named the Region III Division III Player of the Year for 2015 and headlines the list of All-Region III First Team selections for this season.

Stone has played in and started 18 games this fall for GCC, which currently holds the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) No. 1 ranking in Division III men's soccer. He leads the team in assists with 18 and is second in goals (25) and total points (68). His assists total is also the highest current mark in the country.

As a team, GCC has set the national record for most goals in a single season with 139, beating the previous record of 134. The Cougars also set the school record for most goals and wins in a single season.

Genesee played to a perfect 17-0 regular season and won the Region III District A championship to advance to the second national tournament in school history. The Cougars will take on Bunker Hill CC (MA) on Nov. 12 in the quarterfinals in Herkimer, NY.
