BATAVIA, NY (12/17/2014)(readMedia)-- When Mike Wall of York was assigned to make a video advertising something he enjoys about GCC's Lima Campus Center, he went straight for what he calls "the study juice dispenser." Wall, a self-described caffeine addict, is a serious K-cup user and loves the Keurig coffee brewer at the Lima Campus Center. He created a 3-minute video for his Public Speaking class (SPE 108) complete with his own original guitar composition and droll humor. "It got laughs in the class and that made me proud," he said. It also earned him an A from speech instructor John Molyneaux. You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6MOMwNBHak\.

Wall is a 2011 graduate of York Central School. He took some time off school before beginning his college studies this fall and is in the guaranteed transfer program through SUNY Geneseo. Once he successfully completes his first year at GCC, he'll transfer to Geneseo in fall 2015 where he plans to major in Psychology and potentially pursue a career in forensic psychology.

Like many first year students, he didn't relish the idea of taking a speech class. "Going into it I was never really big on public speaking. I was always kind of nervous," he said. "But I really feel a lot more confident with it now. I really enjoyed [the class] actually. I had a really good professor."

Not only did Molyneaux make the class fun, Wall appreciated the smaller class sizes GCC offers. "You become closer and tend to open up more with the class. It really helps with public speaking." Wall is taking three other classes this semester including English, Health and Math.

The Lima Campus Center offers an array of classes in Spring 2015; everything from Introduction to Chemistry (CHE 100) to Principles of Business (BUS 101) and Children's Literature (LIT 203). Register now for classes that begin January 12, 2015. Check out the full class schedule online at https://www.genesee.edu/courses/schedule/.

With its main campus in Batavia, six campus centers located throughout the GLOW (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, Wyoming) region, and an extensive online learning program, GCC can accommodate the needs of students at any stage of learning. The College is known for offering so much more than students expect, with small class sizes and a faculty and staff committed to student success.
