Students Develop Historical Imagination in Iceland

Seventeen students recently studied in Iceland as part of the university's Global Opportunities (GO) program. GO Iceland allows students to spend several weeks touring museums, attending cultural festivals, exploring the natural wonders of this volcanic landscape and learning about Icelandic traditions.

GO Iceland.allows students to spend several weeks touring museums, attending cultural festivals, exploring the natural wonders of this volcanic landscape and learning about Icelandic traditions. Students have the opportunity to develop historical imagination as they look carefully at the relationship between Iceland's history and contemporary life. They gain an understanding of difference and power; identity politics; and nationalism, citizenship, tourism and globalization by studying the economy, environment and community.
