Students Named to USC Aiken Honors Lists

AIKEN, SC (02/15/2018) The University of South Carolina Aiken released the Fall 2017 President's List and the Fall 2017 Dean's List.

These student achievements can be found at the following links.

This semester, the USC Aiken launched Merit Pages, giving students a chance to brag on their academic, athletic and civic accomplishments. The honors lists were released via Merit.

"Much like Linkedin, Merit allows you to build your own online profile, showcasing your academic awards, achievements and experiences," USC Aiken Director of Communication and Marketing, James Raby, told students.

"Merit is a convenient way to keep everyone current on your activities at USC Aiken.

"It also allows family, friends, high school and hometown media to learn more about your accomplishments."

All Pacers recently received an invitation from Merit to start building their customized profiles.

"We hope you will accept this invitation," Raby told students. "We look forward to tracking your academic progress through Merit."

USC Aiken Director of Communication and Marketing Shares Additional Insight, Information provided by James Raby

What is Merit and how does it benefit students?

USC Aiken uses Merit to celebrate student accomplishments. USC Aiken turns those achievements into a Merit page-a verified online profile-for every one of our students. These pages are automatically updated when you win awards, are elected to honor societies, study abroad, and more. All student achievement stories will be published on our institutional Merit page. Through Merit, we'll also share these accomplishments with your hometown media outlets, your family (if you choose) and your high school.

You can see that we have already begun using Merit to promote activities and news. http://usca.meritpages.com/news

How are student Merit pages updated?

USC Aiken creates and updates all student Merit pages; no work is required of you. However, we hope you will want to customize your Merit page URL, by adding a profile photo, bio, and other activities and work experience. In a few days, you'll receive an email invitation to claim your Merit page along with instructions on how you can personalize it.

How can students use their Merit pages?

Merit is a verified showcase of your accomplishments and a powerful way to show employers the success, skills, and expertise you have gained at USC Aiken. You may include your Merit page URL on your resume and share it with potential employers or graduate admissions counselors. You can also connect your Merit page to social networks like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to share your accomplishments with friends and family.

How can I submit a student achievement for consideration?

Faculty, staff and others can submit news about student accomplishments via an online form. The university communication team may reach out for further information, as needed.
