Students Seek Travel Writing Inspiration in South Africa
Fifteen students recently studied in South Africa as part of the university's Global Opportunities (GO) program. ravel Writing in South Africa allows students to spend two and a half weeks exploring South Africa, followed by a travel writing workshop in the fall.
Students spend ten days in a traditional Xhosa village at Mdumbi, where they meet with traditional diviners and chiefs and enjoy dishes such as lamb and tomato curries and pancakes stuffed with fresh mangoes. Students also visit Cape Town to tour a black South African township, bargain at the biggest handicrafts market in Africa and visit mosques and museums.
