Students Volunteer at WIFI Film Festival
Several Washburn University students volunteered their time and talents at the inaugural WIFI Film Festival in April 2019. More than 90 films were screened at the festival, in addition to several filmmaker interviews and an opening reception.
In August 2018, faculty from Washburn's mass media department created an internal organization called the Washburn International Film Institute, or WIFI for short. WIFI is dedicated to promoting and celebrating film production, stories from the Midwest, and education at Washburn University, in the Topeka community, and in the state of Kansas.
