Sundwall Against 'Porkulus' Bill

Bailout Bill Buddies Blasted

ALBANY, NY (02/16/2009)(readMedia)-- Eric Sundwall, independent and Libertarian candidate for Congress (20th NY), said today he would vote against the stimulus bill. He challenged his Hamletesque opponents, Messrs. Murphy and Tesdico, to state a clear position. "In the first week of the campaign," Sundwall said, "my opponent, Mr. Murphy-Tedisco has made it clear he will try to bamboozle the voters with meaningless slogans, clichés and slick feel-good ads. What he has failed to do is give the voters specific proposals for real change. That's why I'm this race: to give the voters a real choice other than the Republicrat."

Sundwall, a small businessman in Columbia County, contends, "The voters of the 20th district are speaking loudly against this stimulus because they recognize what it is, pure pork. While Tedisco and Murphy point to the money coming back to the district, they don't account for the money that leaves. It's obvious, that when the federal government is broke, it can't print more paper money for pork and patronage. If my opponents don't know about hyperinflation, they need to study Weimar Germany."

Sundwall instead favors deep spending cuts and steep tax cuts as the best means to get the economy moving. "For starters, let's eliminate the federal gas tax and let the states build roads. The federal government should not be involved in local construction projects."

The federal gas tax takes 18.4 cents a gallon. "Eliminating this oppressive tax would give families extra dollars to spend on their weekly needs right away," he said.

Concerned about his wife, children, business and community, Sundwall presents himself as an alternative to the older parties. "If the people choose Eric Sundwall a voice for common sense and rational economic behavior will be fighting for their real economic interests."

In other campaign news, Elect Eric Sundwall campaign manager Richard Cooper advises that a volunteer night will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18th at the historic tavern the Van Hoesen House in Niverville, better known as "the Pub." This building will serve as campaign headquarters til the March 31st election. Sundwall will also be appearing in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, February 17th to meet with the Campaign for Liberty group at the Bugaboo Creek restaurant in the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall at 7 p.m.
