Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery Celebrates 20th Anniversary Sept. 26

Gallery celebration to begin Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall

ANNVILLE, PA (09/09/2014)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery will commemorate its 20th Anniversary on September 26 with a celebration from 5-7 p.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall.

"I can hardly believe it's 20 years old!" said Suzanne Arnold Schrotberger, whose generous gift established the Gallery in 1994. "I knew it would be a wonderful addition to the College, but its success has been beyond expectations. Special thanks to all our Gallery directors, Barbara McNulty (current Gallery director), the art committee, and all Gallery donors."

The celebration includes a panel discussion with the Gallery's former directors: David Brigham, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Leo Mazow, Ph.D., associate professor of art history, University of Arkansas and Lisa Tice, Ph.D. Grant Taylor, Ph.D., LVC associate professor of art history, will moderate the panel.

"This anniversary is a milestone in the life of the Gallery," said Dr. Barbara McNulty, Gallery director. "We want to note this special occasion in order to honor Suzanne Arnold Schrotberger, recognize our accomplishments as well as those who have labored to advance the arts at Lebanon Valley College. It is a time to remember the past, see where we are in the present, and look ahead to the future."

A fund has been established through Lebanon Valley College to honor Schrotberger called the Suzanne Arnold Schrotberger Acquisition and Conservation Fund. Donations raised will be dedicated to support and care for Lebanon Valley College's permanent art collection, which is a teaching collection.

The celebratory event includes refreshments and music by Lebanon Valley College music major Chris Costanza '18 of Rehrersburg. Pre-registration is requested; admission is free. Commemorative programs will be available for purchase. Register by emailing gallery@lvc.edu or calling 717-867-6445.

The Gallery's current exhibition, "Intersection: Painting, Drawing, and Photography," is on display until Oct. 12. Gallery hours are Wednesdays from 5-8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 1-4:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and by appointment for groups.
