Sweet Victory For Clive Confectioner at the State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/17/2018) (readMedia)-- Susan Hanke of Clive won First Place Overall and a $50 cash award in the Piper's Homemade Candies competition judged Monday at the 2018 Iowa State Fair.

Harold Magg of Spirit Lake earned Second Place Overall and Marcia Rorabaugh of Colfax claimed Third Place Overall.

Entries were judged on flavor, texture and appearance.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 171 divisions, 727 classes and over 9,574 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
