TODAY: BP Brewer, CM Lander + Advocates Push for Ranked Choice Voting

W/ 17 candidates running for public advocate, Ranked Choice Voting will streamline competitive elections and produce consensus candidates

NEW YORK, NY (02/06/2019) (readMedia)-- Hours before 10 of the 17 candidates for NYC Public Advocate are expected to debate, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Councilman Brad Lander, Susan Lerner from Common Cause/NY, and advocates will join together to demand that the City Council NYC Charter Revision Commission recommend Ranked Choice Voting (RCV): a consensus driven system that would allow voters to rank candidates in order of preference, instead of a winner take all model.

Recommendations and final language are due in the summer for ballot approval.
